Morning all!

Having not climbed in this neck of the woods before, and looking at the rather crappy forecast I was wondering if anyone could suggest a few good spots that might still be worth racking up for?

Going to be based in Bakewell and have got plenty of rope and rack for anything upto and including multi-pitch HVS, though at this rate we might give caving a try instead, might be drier.....

Thanks in advance for your suggestions,

Iain

I'm hoping to get out at the weekend too.

Saturday is a no hoper probably. If the rain clears in the afternoon, you could try a quick setting crag like Stanage or Froggatt in the evening.

Sunday's forecast has deteriorated. The best conditions look like they may be West. Try the Roaches if you've never been.

Vairious aid routes in Dovedale and Manifold. Various possibilities on or under steep limestone for those good enough. Raven Rock Gully at the Roaches often stays dry to the exit. The Bat House at Shining Cliff has several grit climbs in the cave that can be linked up and down (the skylight exit will be minging). New Mills can have dry grit routes, especially under the bridge. Otherwise many S to SW facing grit routes dry in an hour with the temp and windspeed and direction indicated for Saturday afternoon when the rain stops  (ensure you take a rag to keep climbing shoes clean): there will likely be mist/low cloud about, so the lower altitude the crag the better.

Thanks for the suggestions so far folks, just enjoying the hospitality of Bakewell at the moment so won’t be on the crag till late afternoon/evening anyways.

New Mills will be bone dry now, and likely stay dry in parts (bar the top outs!) for a chunk of tomorrow. If the routes do start to get wet some bouldering, and maybe bolted routes up the bridge strut will definitely stay dry.
