Are there any upsides or downsides of combining both in the same routine?

Eg, warm up, do 6 sets of max hangs on small edge, then 6 sets of repeaters on the medium edge, all with weight added to create failure at set 5 or 6

I'd say it would be counter productive, since by definition if you are combining them with repeaters, you can't be training at your maximum strength at the same time.
