Hello.

There are rumours around that DMM has been selling tactical equipment to Saudi Arabia.

Does anyone know if there is any truth on this?

With what is going on in Syria and Yemen, what do people think of this?

Sav

I think the answer to the first question needs to be clearly established before anybody gets too hot and bothered about the second.

In reply to Mountain Spirit:

It's entirely possible that they are supplying the MOD, who in turn are sending it to Saudi Arabia.

In reply to Luke90:

I agree.

We could ask DMM!

Don't worry about it. I've sold three old Black Diamond crabs via EBay to the SRC in Yeman; that about evens things up.

So long as it's not the new Dragon 7 & 8 cams, I'm fed up of waiting for them now..

I think it doesn't matter the tactical stuff is all Black and I like my kit shiny and anodised bright colours.

'Cos its crap gossip and a stupid question.

About them maybe selling kit to Saudi Arabia? Even less than you apparently.

Maybe the Saudis are stockpiling DMM 1.5m steel slings too and that's why they have none in stock...

In reply to JLS:

No worries.

But since you mentioned Black Diamond, haven't they been bought by holding company who owns an ammunitions manufacture with close ties to the NRA?

I´ve sold bolts to the US navy, the British Army, the Sultanate of Oman, the Chinese, Cubans, Vietnamese and Gary Gibson amongst others, does this make me a bad person?

I remember reading that the tactical stuff was painted black.

I like the way that you've listed your customers in ethics reverse order...

In reply to jimtitt:

IMO, I'm not sure.

Just curious, what's your issue with the NRA?

A client of mine turned up on a course with a Jetboil that was in multicam/camo. They put it down somewhere in the Moelwyns and promptly lost it. They never did find it as far as I know...

In reply to JayPee630:

Holy smokes!

There are a lot of outdoor companies there.

Don't you think that the National Rifle is too powerful?

What about all the school shootings?

AFAIK none of the mass-shooter events in the US have been committed by an NRA member?

But would you sell them to the (hypothetical) Stanage bolt fund?

Maybe the rumours are true, in which case Sav, if you ever start climbing, the whole situation could become an issue for you.

Only Gary Gibson.

They do, it’s used by the Royal Marines. Black for stealth but it still jingles just as much.

I heard they tried making silent stealthy cams out of rubber but they didn't work so well and left skid marks on the crag.

Thanks be to Allah, peace be upon him, that they aren't selling it to the Iranians.

Were they left by the cams or the climbers attempting to use them?
