Hi

Does the Rockfax app update the routes regularly? This would be my main reason for buying it instead of the paper book as that gets out of date quite quickly as new routes are added all the time.

It would also be nice to get useful info on walk ins that have changed (thinking about Portland here as the guidebook often sends you off the edge of a cliff as the path has fallen down)

We do update the app versions although currently not as frequently as we hope to in the future. Pembroke has just had a huge update and now has nearly 1000 routes (old version 650). We are working on a Peak Limestone update currently.

Other apps with updates above and beyond the current print edition are Dorset Bouldering and North Wales Climbs. Eastern Grit, Peak Bouldering, Northern England and Western Grit have minor updates.

Thanks Alan, a regularly updating guidebook would be amazing. Will you be basing the cost of the update on how many routes are added/amended or are you thinking of some kind of monthly subscription fee?

Or will it be free?!

Up to now all updates have been free but they have mainly been minor updates. Those with the Kalymnos app are getting a fairly major update for free this week or next.

We are going to be changing our system though and moving to a subscription system instead. This will allow people access to all packages for a period of time rather than buying a package forever as we currently do. We haven't yet finalised the details of this.

And this will help since it is easier for us to create a payment system based on subscription so we don't need to create the complex package system for Android.
