Want to do Fiesta de Biceps at Riglos - would September be ok or too hot? Any information would be very helpful - climb on a single 80m ok? Is the Refugio ok at the base? Cheers.

Hi Mark,

Me and Dan did it mid-October. We didn't start early, nor did we take enough water. After much faff taking photos on the headwall http://www.danarkle.com/climbing/#/view/ID1796404 we were both pretty parched.

With some better tactics (early start, more than 300ml water between you), you'd probably be fine.

We bivvied in a layby down by the main road - can't comment on the refugio.

An 80m single allowed us to run some pitches together, and you could bail from up high if needs be (lower your partner, clipping in, then get lowered off, (sport style) to strip it, thus staying in contact with the rock).

Alberto Rabadá o Murciana (6c) and El Zulú Demente (7a+) were both great too - the latter easier then Fiesta except for the very last 3m.

80m rope fine, thats what we had.  Did it in march, awful weather all week but route dry.

The Refugio is a great base for climbers. My brother and I shared a private room, which was nice.  They do serve food but take a stove, pots, pans, plates, cutlery etc and you can cook in the downstairs kitchen/balcony areas.  Buy food in a big town on the way in (Huesca).  We paid for b&b but the breakfast was fairly average.

We also enjoyed the Puro, a really cool summit!

I was there at the end of October a few years ago. We climbing in the middle of the day and it was pretty hot, but OK. The cobbles can be pretty slick in the heat.

The refugio is good, but definitly go with supplies and cooking stuff as already mentioned.

Did it in August a few years ago - started at first light (having driven 2.5 hours from Oloron in France)

We were reasonably efficient so topped out before it got too hot

I've done Fiesta twice in late March and mid October - September will be warm but if you make an early start and do the first 7a pitch in the coolth you should be fine. It's reliant on relatively small holds - completely out of character with the rest of the route where a house brick would be considered "small"

If that goes okay, take a look at Carnavalade on Le Pison.
