The recommended route down from Pen yr ole wen is east almost along ridge to the path at Afon Lloer. 

The next checkpoint is car park 659602.

 I can't see what's wrong with a SW ridge path descent to road and across which may even be shorter but more time on the road. Thoughts? 

As has been suggested on your duplicate thread - the S ridge is very steep and in places very loose. The potential for an injury is high, and you would probably end up walking/down climbing whilst apart from one or two steps the East ridge should be a steady run.
