Chamonix Multi Day Overnight Parking?

Does anyone know if the 24h parking next to the Petanque pitches/MBC is ok to leave a van in for several days while up in the mountains? Any suggestions for other spots if it's not? Thanks UKC!

We parked in the dirt car park up behind the montenvers parking for 4 or 5 days at a time and it was totally fine.

This is Des Planards parking I believe. Have done that before but last year there were new pretty-much in-your-face signs saying no overnight parking. Yet there were still dirtbag vans there basically camping.

Is there some crackdown on overnight parking there or something? While I was looking around some French people, who were staying in hotels I think, were asking me if it was OK to park several days there, and I was having to do the french shrug a bit. The signs say no. But...
