from the most recent C2C outing:
"Leaving our campsite at around 2:10am we arrived at the Hörnli Hut at around 3am and were informed that unguided parties are not allowed to climb until after 4:20am so as not to get in the way of the guides and their clients... regardless of said clients speed and abilities."
A hut can very well serve dinner first to guides and impose some other rules. But if you have nothing to do with a hut, who are guides to stop you from climbing a mountain?
I would be furious (but I know it's standard practice over there)
Does anyone know if this rule is backed up by a swiss or Zermat 'law'?
It's becomming more and more obvious that I missed the golden age of alpinism.
