Giving away old gear

We have some old outdoor gear that we have no use for and want to get rid of. It is all too old to be sold but probably has some life left in it. I have seen posts in the past from charities looking for second-hand gear - does anyone know what kind of condition of gear they'll take? Can anyone suggest any in Edinburgh/the Scottish Central Belt that might be interested? (It feels a bit bulky to be posted, but possibly some might be worth the effort.)

Thank you

Email a university group! They’re often after gear (especially relatively expensive trad and winter items) and you can guarantee it’ll be put to good use.

Noble of you to want to pass it on by the way, I know I like to keep stuff hanging around for nostalgia value.

Venture Scotland (http://venturescotland.org.uk/) certainly used to take donations of outdoor gear in Edinburgh.

Or try local Scout/Guide or similar groups etc?

Your local school may well be able to use kit for DoE groups etc.

I suspect many of the Uni hillwalking and climbing clubs would be glad of it too.
