Hi, I'm planning to head to Kyrgyzstan about this time next year and was wondering what the conditions might be like/comparable to? I need to replace a bit of kit (on a budget) and wondering where I spend my money wisely. Plan is to aim for some 3-4500m(ish) peaks. Are temperatures comparable to the Alps or does it get much colder?

Thanks

In reply to Derry:

I was in Kyrgyzstan in July. The weather rather depends on where you are. If you are looking at Ala Archa, then clothing for the Alps should be OK. Further afield and you may need some extra layers.

This is a good summary, particularly the Naryn info at 2000m:

Please feel free to ask any other questions that you have and I will do my best to help.

Cheers, will PM you. For any others with knowledge, I'm looking at the Southwest near the torugart pass to China.
