BBC News - Google's Alphabet gives up on rescue robots

I thought this is unusual. Just giving up on the idea of bipedal robots. Whether for rescue or not to give up seems a bit of a unusual move .
Why do you think this is ?
I didn't realize they had sold Boston dynamics after seeing the progress they had made with Atlas.
Is this all the realm of DARPA now ?
