Does anybody have experience with the Hammer Active GPS Smartphone  available on the memory map website?  I need a waterproof phone+GPS for winter mountaineering, and it looks like a good option (My iPhone screen becomes unuseable in the cold and wet, even when it is in a waterproof case)

Thanks for advice.

Sorry I haven't.

I have however recently got myself a Landrover Explore phone. Spent a few days in Glen Nevis bagging some munros and recording my routes on this phone. I even managed to drop it face down on to rock. The only damage is a mark on the screen protector. Bit annoying but at least it now had character.

I recommend it. The battery life is great and with the extra battery + gps antenna it was absolutely amazing. I recorded a 10 hour trip and still hadn't used all the extra battery up, ergo, main battery was still 100%. It's waterproof, can handle subzero temperatures, extra long battery life, great gps and comes loaded with viewranger and a full topographical map of UK.
