Does anyone know how the ice is coming along in either of these areas? I realise they're both quite big but anything would be useful. Heading to the alps next week and wondering whether it's worth booking an extra bag for pointy things

In cogne I think a fair amount is in at the moment, repentance super, flash estivo, Monday money etc , plus a couple of new WI5+ routes been done recently, however there is currently a ban on climbing in some of the ice falls ( don't know which) due to bearded vultures in the area. There is a meeting of the grand paradiso park authority tomorrow to decide if climbing can resume or any further action.

There's a facebook group local to Cogne that seems well informed - it's in Italian but FB will translate it for you. it's called "IcE CliMbiNg...CuoRi di GhiAccio" (not sure what the significance if the upper case letters is)
