anyone been touring in the Tatras and have any advice to share.
we're got a plan for touring on the polish side, would be interested in how it differs from touring in the alps (huts, routes, park rules etc.)
AFAIK pretty much everything in the Polish Tatry NP is a no-go for ski-touring. You’re allowed to approach climbs with skis, but not ski tour.
Stuff outside the NP is fair game, I guess. But most head for Slovakian side for touring...
It wouldn't surprise me that there are the odd rules to abide by, but I'm seeing ski touring as perfectly acceptable:

interesting that the Slovak side would be more popular - any idea why? (other than touring in Poland being verboten)
I believe the devil is in the detail. In the NP, you’re only allowed to hole/tour on the dedicated marked trails (as per the link you provided). And it’s not as restricted in the Slovak side.
aye, we did see that. we're thinking that this isn't major drawback.
the other side appears (Slovak) to have different limitations: without a guide you're restricted in where you go.
have you skied in Slovakia, and was that with a guide?
Ski Touring is allowed in Tatras - with certain exceptions
