Finger strength training with a sling

Hi,

In the absence of a hangboard, are there any significant drawbacks to training the fingers with a sling and weights ?

When travelling, it would be simple to throw the sling around a foot and pull?

I would aim to keep the fingers in half crimp

Thanks

Hard to judge the load on the fingers while training, it'll all be subjective - maybe incorporate a spring balance of the type which anglers use, between two shorter slings, so that you can train with fixed values for reps?

This just sounds so rubbish when portable hangboards are so easily available to purchase or to manfacture. Something like a Grippul wouldn't take up much space or weight if that was the main concern.

Agree. I find it hard to imagine how you could have any sort of intense session using a sling, maybe vaguely useful for warming up a bit. Buy a single campus rung and a bit of ply, and make one to hang from a tree. Very easy and cheap, and very effective.
