Structural Designer/Design Engineer

Entre-Prises UK Ltd is the country’s leading artificial climbing wall manufacturer and part of a global company with offices in Europe, Asia and North America. Our UK operations are based in Kelbrook, Lancashire on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales. You would be working with a young dynamic team, dedicated to supplying the best climbing walls in the world. Each climbing wall is unique and every project represents a new challenge. 

Position

Reporting to the Senior Structural Designer, you would be responsible for the production of fabrication drawings required by the production department, and all installation and general drawings required by project management. You would be responsible for delivering technical information to the production centres for the manufacture of the full Entre-Prises product range. 

Main responsibilities

  • Producing structural drawings for the fabrication of climbing walls & Clip n Climb systems.
  • Ensure drawings are simple and concise for error-free fabrication and installation, while also containing all necessary information to ensure quality, EN standards, structural requirements etc are met.
  • Liaison with UK and International Project Management to ensure the client’s expectations are met.
  • Support the Production Manager to ensure projects are built on time and to the correct specification and quality.
  • Obtain competitive quotes from new suppliers and minimise production material costs.
  • Conduct inspections during manufacture to ensure standards are met and drawings correctly interpreted.
  • Support the continued improvement of our Clip n Climb product, including R&D, materials sourcing and testing, updating models and drawings etc.

Potential Responsibilities:

  • Producing calculation notes to include all reaction forces imposed by a climbing wall.
  • Rendering 3D ACAD drawings to produce photo realistic representations.
  • Supporting R&D Designing new clip n climb elements.
  • Assist with designs, proposals and quotations for despatch to clients.
  • Conducting site surveys with Project managers from time to time.
  • Liase with project architects, engineers, quantity surveyors, clients etc as required. 
  • Assistance with on-site installations to improve knowledge.

The ideal candidate will have some, or all, of the following attributes:

  • Mechanical, Engineering or Industrial/Product Design based bachelor’s degree and/or 2+ years’ experience in a similar manufacturing environment.
  • An understanding of Sketchup, Autocad in 3D, Solidworks or equivalent 3D Solid CAD software.
  • Knowledge of FEA packages such as Robot or Cype.
  • Knowledge of metal & timber structure fabrication, assembly techniques, part & assembly drawings, part tolerances.

Skills and general experience

  • Excellent communication & collaboration.
  • Must have the ability to multitask and work under own initiative.
  • Must have good timekeeping and time management skills.
  • Must be prepared to assist with other any roles that are required by a small manufacturing business as an example (but not limited to packing, loading, site work, fabrication etc.)
  • Must be able to drive.
  • Having an interest and knowledge of climbing would be an advantage.
  • Due to the international nature of the work additional language skills (French, German, Spanish, Chinese) would be an advantage  

The successful applicant will receive training and assistance from the existing team to help them become embedded in the climbing wall world. The position would be ideal for a candidate with a passion for outdoor activities (Climbing, MTB, running, Walking..). Employees have access to equipment pro deals.

The position is full time and is based at the head office in Kelbrook, Lancs.

Start Date: As soon as possible

Leave: 5 weeks per year plus bank holidays

Pension: 5% employer’s contribution into company pension scheme (upon successful completion of probationary period)

Salary: c23k –26k depending on skills and experience

Hours: Normal working hours 39.5 hours per week. Monday – Friday
