Hi all

A while back a thread was started about the vibram academy re sole service in London. The thred has since been archived so I thought I'd post an update.  I sent in a bunch of shoes to them. They could do 3 out of the 4 pairs within 2 weeks. With a little bit of help they could match the right type of rubber to each shoe. £40 a pair.  They are not climbers but know alot about shoes and materials.

They only thing I'm not sure about is I don't think they have matched the original thickness of the sole.  I have Scarpa furias and they are ment to be thin (3.5 mm)

Below are links to photos I've never had a re sole before so I don't know if it's good or bad quality.  Feedback appreciated.

A good resole shouldn't really be ground down to fit the shoe. Also they are on the expensive side for a resole. It's hard to tell from a picture, but they don't look amazing but they also aren't the worst I've seen. The sole picture looks rough though.

I recommend George of fixarock from Greece, great turnaround, good value and excellent workmanship. I paid about £30-35 a pair including Rand repairs and return postage.

About on par with alot of re-soles I've seen. Most of the re-soles i've seen have been done through LSR and they haven't been great, they've done the job though and costs about £60, and I have no idea what rubber it is they use (seems to be the same regardless of model or shoe manufacturer) From your photos, your shoes look like a better job, though the thickness of the rubber is the same or at least looks it. The shape of tech shoes always seems to be butchered by getting them re-soled.

I have seen a friends shoes that were done by George in Greece and they looked like they were brand new (except for the smell) an amazing job. If I was getting shoes re-soled I'd be going to George.

I agree with GMhor and Alex use George in Greece his craftsmanship is superb.

I’d like to get my Scarpa instinct resoled and £40 sounds reasonable to me, how did you go about it, I’ve checked their website and social media can’t see how you go about it without actually walking in the store.

Sounds cheaper and less hassle than sending some shoes to Greece.

I just went into the shop, I don't think they have a postal service. I sent an email but I think they are a bit slow at replying.

No it’s cheaper sending them to George in Greece. Resole is €27 including return postage.
