Ok, never been to Kendal before, will be there for a day/evening some time in May - what is there to do / see around there?

What would your recommendations be - and I don't mean climbing / walking unfortunately.

Can you do Kendal Mint Cake factory visits like you do distillery tours in Scotland?

Fell Bar for nice beer

Brewery Arts Centre for a film / entertainment

The Moon for a nice meal

Mumbai for a nice curry

Method for cool daytime food and coffee

Abbott Hall for whatever exhibition is on

Whilst I live in, and love, Kendal, it isn’t that exciting if you’re not combining with climbing walking etc (IMHO) but it’s not a bad place to mooch around.

Food and drink offering is a bit shit on the whole, so don’t get excited about being knocked out by an amazing, artisan F&B offering, because there isn’t one.

You can also easily catch the train up to Staveley for hawkshead brewery, eagle and child pub and More bakery.

Have a great time, whatever you decide.

I amused myself in Kendal for a while once by parking a 'new' car I'd just taken charge of that day, in  a 1 hour area and then deadlocking myself out of it and setting the alarms off.

Ebtertain yourself by getting to grips with the one way system. It's great.

Less fun if you are on foot. God awful place.
