Hi all.

I'm looking at replacing my old Mammut Genesis halfs and wondering about personal experiance of Stirling ropes, specifically the Evolution Duetto Dry 8.4mm. I've had a look at the reviews but I'm interested in how they stand up longer term - i.e a year / few years.

I'm asking long term specifically because I've got a friend who climbs on Beal Operas and they look like they've been through the ringer. Another friend has Mammut Phoenixes which have had the same approximate duration and intensity of use as the Beal ropes but are in wayyyy better condition.

So I'm also looking at the Mammut Phoenix. I'll mostly use the rope for Scottish winter and summer alpine.

Ta in advance for all your helpful advice!

In reply to Will Hempstead:  The opera has a bit of form for rapid wear.  It's triple rated so I wonder if something in the construction compromises durability to get that rating, compared to a 1/2 that's jsut that.
