Walking up past Styhead Tarn today in pretty grim conditions there were 2 tents at the head of the tarn . from the path I could see the wind was ragging around the porch and inner of one of them. Headed across to make sure everything was ok but no one about so ended up securing it as much as possible but I don’t think the tent was going to stand up to the weather. The other tent already had 2 out of 3, poles broken.  

It would be good to know the owners came back and got down ok  if you frequent this site or anyone knows them. 

Sounds like a case of abandon ship, hopefully they returned to remove their tents. 

That would be poor form for sure, but my guess is they were out on the fell and underestimated the conditions. The wind funnels down through Styhead and I expect when they got back it was a case of WTF, pack up and back to the car.
