French climber Luce Douady, a rising star of the IFSC circuit, has died at the age of 16 following a slip and fall on an approach path at St Pancrasse in the Isère department of France. Despite her young age, Luce had earned multiple national and international titles and looked set to be one to watch ahead of Paris 2024 and beyond.

In reply to UKC News: What a shame. I can remember reading about a slip in Yosemite in similar circumstances having the same consequences.

Awful news. I watched her in the IFSC competitions last year and she was so talented. I feel for her family and friends.

That is so sad.  Luce is one huge smiling bundle of energy bursting with enthusiasm.  She gives you hope for the future of humanity.
