If you can’t find basic punctuation keys on a computer keyboard you probably shouldn’t go scrambling.

You could try buying one of the numerous N.Wales scrambling guidebooks assuming you haven't already.

Great that you're new to it and super keen, but just get out there and do it.  If you get to a point where your making a move and feel like you couldn't reverse it or down climb, then either bypass it (usually doable on most grade 1 & 2's) or walk away and return with someone more experienced with some kit etc

Sorry cant help you out on main gully are you not thinking north or little gully or nor nor gully or south gully?

Have fun

In reply to D.botts87:

Main gully is on the Glyderau it’s the one with the chockstone by chasm face

In reply to Cneifion Arête:

The "Main Gully" you are referring to is on Glyder Fach, and the place it leads you to is Glyder Fach.

I think you need a route guide.  I'm sure there's one for Wales.

In reply to Billhook:

What’s that ?

Ah yes, good punctuation and grammar. The cornerstone of a scrambler's skills.

I guess that would depend on your ability and competence.

You don't need a rope for El Cap.

If I were doing Bryant's Gully on my own I wouldn't take a rope. With a beginner I almost certainly would have one in my bag.

In reply to Suncream:

I’m kind of a beginner I done crib goch Tryfan bristly ridge crib lem pen y fan and some other walks and doing main gully on Saturday but I’m thinking about doing y Garn or Bryant’s gully after

Then it does matter if you need one or not.

I suggest either getting some instruction or going out with a guide might help develop your route finding skills, plus it will help you with judgement calls about what is safe for you to attempt.

Best response to the plethora of the OPs threads. Get a guide for a day, and they'll teach you far more than 10 identical questions over different UKC threads will.

By the way, what you makes you think Aonach Eagach is the best?

In reply to Billhook:

It looks pretty amazing

Well, if he/she/it (I'm not ruling out bot) doesn't have a rope, but needs one, then he/she/it can probably acquire one
