Any recommendations for best glue to use where the rand is coming away from the shoe material.

Shoes are 5.10 Blancos (original ones) so the material is that synthetic stuff. They don't need resoling yet.

Or should I just wait until they do need resoling and get it done properly.

Shoo goo - cheap, easy to get, space filling but not that strong.

Aquasure - similar but expensive, order online, very very effective.

I'm sure there are other specialist options. Be sure to stuff the shoe with socks and firmly wrap the repair in parcel tape or similar so it holds shape while setting.

Over on this side of the pond its Barge Cement.  Dunno if you can get it there...

I remember using Shoo Goo to fill a big hole in my Scarpa Superatz (so a little while ago) before leading Cock-a-leekie Wall (E2 6a).

Have used it more recently so might still have some but hadn't thought of it as a glue as well as a hole filler.

I've just used this on some rock shoes - have also used it on other shoes and works very well:

Have also used it on all sorts of other things, like the kid's paddling pool.

Freesole

In reply to Michael Hood:

Try it if you have some, Aquasure is better.

I think freesole is identical/almost identical to Aquasure.

Free sole for me in UK, but happy to hear of a better product

Are there any good shoe repair shops?  I haven't had anything resoled for years.

In reply to all: thanks everyone - gives me some things to check out on the internet

In reply to Michael Hood:

Any impact adhesive. Fairly cheap and available in most DIY stores. Small tin will last years. Biggest difficulty is keeping both surfaces firmly together until the glue cures.
