Every so often (maybe 4-5 times a year) when rained off from climbing we'll go and have a potter around some caves or mines. Mainly around Stoney but potentially Castleton way too. There must be a guidebook to point us in the right direction, so which one is it? I've had a quick Google but the only one I found was about 20 years old (perhaps it's still the most recent one).

Cheers in advance 🙂

If know one knows here ask on https://ukcaving.com/board/index.php?action=forum

Used to be a sister site to ukb I think.

Really useful information on access and rigging to be found there too.

One which shows where the local authority boundaries are so you don’t inadvertently crawl across a T3 boundary.

You can do that much more easily up here in the Three Counties system. Go down Lancaster Hole (Tier 1 Cumbria) and come out of Link Pot or Pippikin (Tier 3 Lancashire). I'm not sure if they've been physically connected yet but, you might be able to pass under the border, dodging the CRO check points and come out of Marble Steps Pot which is in North Yorkshire (Tier 1). It might take diving gear (and a long-term digging project) to avoid breaking the guidelines.

The guide book you want is Caves of The Peak District, Barker and Beck.

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Caves-Peak-District-Iain-Barker/dp/0956347320

Having said that, some of the descriptions are not very detailed, even for more extensive systems, like Devonshire and Jug Holes. a

As pointed out ukcaving.com is your best go to for information.
