[Blind climber Jesse Dufton climbs Forked Lightning Crack]

Stars of Climbing Blind Jesse and Molly Dufton are back at it again, with Jesse upping his game and setting his (non)-sight on the stunning Forked Lightning Crack (E2 5c), a classic Don Whillans route on Yorkshire Grit. The GB Paraclimber teamed up once again with award-winning filmmaker Alastair Lee to storm his way up this striking zig-zag crack. Is this perhaps the best grit crack in the UK?

My climbing mates say I have a book of a 1001 excuses why today was not the day to climb x or y.

This guy blows about half of them away.

Been lucky enough to see in real life and sat in awe and watched this titan climb.

Amazing.

Glad to get in early before all the superlatives are used up.

Wow, Jesse made it look quite straightforward.  He cruised it.  I guess he must have been getting out a bit this summer, to be able to look it in the eye and knock it off first go.

Ummm....

Fantastic! Is that classed as a ‘nonsight’ lead?

His partner is great isn’t she....

He made that seem very straight forward. Didn’t Whillans have a smoke half way up?

E2? He made it look about VS. At most. Beast.

Great Friday night video as usual and a real pleasure watching Jesse climb. His partner, seemed to me, to be the perfect belayer.

Blimey.  This has been on my to do list forever.  I'm really running out of excuses now!

I have been trying and failing to get 'on-fondle' established as the terminology, but Jesse seems to prefer the more family friendly 'non-sight'.

There may yet be chance to establish 'top-grope'.

Really, really impressive, Jesse's stamina must be immense.

FLC is sharply defined and I'm sure that helps Jesse to have confidence in his climbing on that kind of terrain. But I remember seeing photos of him on Pebbledash (HVS 5a) and thinking "how the f*** does he do delicate moves like that when there are no positive holds?".

So what I'd like to see is a video of him doing something slabby to see how he goes about that, although the end result will probably be just that there are even fewer excuses left for the rest of us 😁

I noticed that. Made a mental note to bring massive cams for FLC.

How does he trust his gear!? I spend ages faffing checking my runners. Climbing without sight seems impressive although plausible but safely leading trad breaks my mind.

Phenomenal, again. As others have said, the placing of his own gear is mind-boggling.

For me, he's Sports Personality of the Year.
