M6 dog walk

I'm doing a long drive up the M6 with the dog. Would be good to find somewhere to take her a 45-60 min walk somewhere between Birmingham and Lancaster. Ideally this would be very close to a motorway exit to minimize wasted miles... Extra points awarded if I could let her run around off lead, but proximity trumps that.

Thanks for any suggestions!

Doxy marshes, Stafford J14 would probably do you well.

If you park here there's a huge park where you can let you dog run.

It's about 5 mins from J15 of the M6.

Lancaster canal and beacon fell also close to jn31. ‘31 is a good shout if doggo can hold on until just before Lancaster

Last time I did this I stopped on the edge of Cannock Chase here:

A bit of a drive from the motorway but a properly stunning location.

Along the old railway route from Halton to Crook o'Lune on the north side of Lancaster is nice and literally right next to J34.

Trentham Gardens just off J15 could work.

I live one mile from junction 27 and have a springer, so could tell you loads of places. Muddy as hell at the moment. There are two petrol stations very close (closer than most services). In fact, that deer photo (other thread) was about 100 metres from M6, rainbow house eco farm and equestrian centre. Interesting place, founded by Ainscough (plant hire millionaire), there’s a good track around the farm and solar panels, buy a brew. Park on roads near entrance  and just walk around, dog off lead 90%.

Or: park at/ near Charnely arms (1 minute from junction), quiet roads round Arbour Lane then farm tracks towards Standish Hall farm. Charnley arms was the once famous Henry Africa’s.

Combining with a petrol station for coffee/cake is a good idea. Wellies will definitely be in the car so muddy isn't too much of an issue.

I'm going to put all save all these places in my google maps and then I can decide as we're driving how we're doing for time and daylight on the day. Thanks again for all the suggestions.
