The Castle Team are looking for the right candidate to fill an exciting new dual role within the Centre as Reception Team Leader and Duty Manager. This is a full time role at 40 hours per week and is a great opportunity to gain further experience working within a leading Climbing Centre in London.   

About The Castle  

The Castle offers a diverse and wide range of Climbing facilities to cater for all. Based in Stoke Newington, north London, the Centre itself is a Grade II listed Victorian Water pumping station, with outdoor boulders, shop/cafe and community gardens. A friendly and enthusiastic team we are passionate in providing the highest quality climbing facilities in a fun, motivated, and inclusive environment. Sustainability is also an important part of the Centre’s vision and values and is integrated into every aspect of the business. 

The Role   

Reporting to the Operations Manager you will be working in a dual role across the Duty Management Team and the Reception Team. The successful individual will be responsible for maintaining the highest standards of safety and a great customer service to our climbing community working within customer focused areas of the business.  

As Reception Team Leader you will ensure an effective running of the Reception function and work with the Team to improve and develop its efficiency and customer journey in the Castle.  

Working alongside our great team of Duty Managers you will also be responsible for the daily supervision of the Centre, ensuring First Aid and Health and Safety protocol are followed at all times.  

This is a great role and opportunity providing exposure and experience of working across two key departments within the business function.  

The Person 

The successful individual will need to be proactive, reliable and a good problem solver in busy environments. The Castle will provide extensive training, however, a CWI or RCI qualification is desirable, along with a valid emergency first aid certificate.  

A passionate climber yourself you will be able to communicate well with fellow climbers who may have specific questions and needs. You will be a great communicator and have experience of resolving conflict or complaints in a tactful and diplomatic way, dealing with verbal and written communications.  

The right candidate will have experience leading and motivating a team to work together, taking on board ideas and working in a collaborative and inclusive way.  

Ideally you will have experience of cash handling and working within a sports facility/and or climbing facility.  

As part of this role you will be required to work evenings and weekends on a rota basis.
