First one today.
And saw a very odd thing. A magpie caught my eye. Carried on walking and saw what I thought was a Sparrowhawk kill. Feathers everywhere. Walked right past it - it was a song thrush minus most of its breast feathers, still breathing! Couldn’t see any blood. Quite odd. A Sparrowhawk would have dispatched it quickly I reckon, so reckon it was the magpie. Looked like an adult so tie as well.
Five bullfinch, two gadwall on a pond (first time I’ve seen them there). Pair kestrels hunting, two pair of buzzards (indicating chicks hatched) and a regular female roe deer that looks ‘unpregnant’ for first time this spring.
