Just now. Sparrowhawk kill. Right next to footpath. Saw the female fly off and then saw it’s prey. Pity didn’t spot it earlier since I’ve got my big camera with me.

Sparrowhawk didn't get its dinner then.

In reply to Billhook:

Half of it. It will come back and finish it off.

Can't believe you picked that up.

In reply to squarepeg:

Saw four Sparrowhawks and three buzzards. I reckon the recent bad weather has meant many none  hunting days, so they’re having to make up for lost time. I’m also trying to work out the pattern of a pair of barn owls. I know where their nest sight is, but their hunting fields are widely spread. I did see one, but bad light (for me, no doubt good for them!).

Photo of woodcock in photo gallery - search 'woodcock'. A few about this year but hard to spot until in flight. There will be probably fewer next year as the roosting woods are going to be felled/cleared in the spring.

In reply to Williecleuch:

Seen it - cool!
