Good day all,

My buddy and I are looking at driving down to Zermatt sometime end of summer, maybe August.  We are looking at campsites, hostels, whatever is the cheapest.  I will have my vehicle so we don't exactly have to be in downtown Zermatt for convenience.  Is there such a thing as "wild camping" in Switzerland? Probably be a week to 10 days.

Thanks

There is a campsite in "downtown" Zermatt behind the railway station and one in Tasch where you have to leave your car for the train up. Cheap is relative! There's a youth hostel in Zermatt.

Wild camping is not allowed and is usually strictly enforced. There is a small campsite by the train terminus in Zermatt but I suggest camping in Rando, a village just before Zermat. Shuttle buses to Zermat regularly as well as the train, Zermat is a 'car free' town.
