I'm off to Scotland this weekend and looking for a cheap belay jacket, everything I see at decathlon is down. Does anyone have any recommendations for a cheap belay jacket?

Alpkit Ohiro is 120 quid at the moment. About as cheap as you'll find, although I dare say not the warmest.

Not sure how cheap they are these days, but Buffalo jackets are very cosy and used to be cheap

Yep, and if cash is the biggest limit, the OP could consider getting perhaps the 25 quid hood-less basic synth jacket from Decathlon, sized to fit over your shell, AND the hooded version one or two sizes larger than the first, at 30 quid. I bet that would be surprisingly warm.

Turned out to be a nice day out in the northern cairgorms for a scramble up fiacaill ridge and then up Cairn Gorm. Definitely got lucky with the weather.
