We climbed Point 5 Gully today but unfortunately one of our party couldn't climb the rouge pitch so we had to bail from above the technical pitches after lowering him to the belay.

I left a lovely Petzl laser speed screw in the bottom of the grade 3 ice step equalised with a v thread that was in-situ.

I would be eternally grateful if anyone is climbing that route in the near future and retrieves it. P&P paid of course, and I'll make a donation to Lochaber MRT in your honour 😄

I'll let the person who finds it make their call.

That sounds like a fun day [type 1, 2 or 3?]

A blend of 1 and 2. That said the 2 bit was mainly just shivering on the belay waiting.

I'd be red faced at that.

Pretty sure it's the rogue pitch although it might have been misspelled in a guidebook at one point.

Indeed it is. I am just ham fisted.

Could you have lowered him all the way and left him to walk out? Just asking.

Many moons ago, my partner on Point Five dropped one of my Friends, but nobly walked back up to the base to retrieve it (we were staying at the CIC hut, so it wasn't that huge an imposition).

The furthest we could lower him was to the belay at the start of the rogue pitch.

Anyway, the screw is back in my possession.
