I'm in the market for a belay device. I'm looking for some kind of assisted braking.

I was looking at the Mammut Smart 2 but then saw rave reviews for the Beal birdie however I can't find it in stock anywhere.

Are these devices no longer made?

I've used one and it's a gri gri with another name... if you can't find one then why not go for that?
