I purposefully took this blurred photo

Test your skills.

Saw that species yesterday! I was admiring their colours. I’ll leave it to others to guess.
Edit; PS my initial photos x 2 were blurred as well 🙄!

There’s two species…..

They where hundreds of metres away.

Common Shelduck?

In reply to Climbing Pieman:

Saw this Mediterranean Gull.  Best view I’m ever likely to get. But it had clouded over so a bit dull. Superb bird - check the eye. Also bittern in flight, whimbrel and little gull. And a marsh tit, very close.

In reply to cb294:

Yes. But what about the other bird.

The only clue I’m giving is: it is flying the opposite direction, between and behind the shelducks.

In reply to Bottom Clinger:

Oh as there are two, you have me stumped. One is Shelduck I guess as it seemed the same as in my blurred photos!

Didn't see it at first. Common Pochard?

In reply to cb294:

You’ll laugh when I tell you. It’s behind, so looks smaller.

This is a slightly better photo

In reply to Bottom Clinger:

Excellent photos and the detail is incredible. I've found that it is only looking at photos later and zooming in, I can see details impossible to see at the time even with binoculars.

In reply to Bottom Clinger:

The second is a swallow as my guess.

In reply to Climbing Pieman:

You couldn’t be further away. The only thing they have in common with a swallow is : they over winter in the same continent.

Cheers!

I always enjoy your nature spotting threads. Thanks for posting them.

Ta. Went to Leighton Moss. Reckon if I’d have made a note of things like starlings, reckon I’d have been pushing 75+ species. Saw species 11 of wader, loads warblers. First swifts of the year. Not many raptors surprisingly.

It looks like two MQ-9 Reapers
