I'm going to be in the Highlands with a friend doing some grade 1 scrambles and was hoping to give some outdoor roped climbing a go while we are up there. Can anyone recommend a climbing school offering 1/2 day courses suitable for first time climbers?

Thanks

The Highlands are a big place, a good bet is to check the AMI website to find people who should all be capable of doing a good job of what you want in the relevant area. I did a course with West Coast Mountain Guides a few years ago who were excellent.

Glenmore Lodge as mentioned above are meant to be good too.

Arran is a good place to start. Amazing ridges and scrambling. Scotland in miniature as its known and completely agree. Lucy Wallace is a guide there if you just google the name. Make sure you get the right one!

Depends where in the Highlands you're heading - quite a big area!

If the North-West, try Paul Tattersall www.gofurtherscotland.co.uk

Lots of great introductory crags around Gairloch and Gruinard.
