Hi 

I'm looking to travel to Japan in October to visit my brother wo will be in Nagoya and would like to do some climbing whilst there initially planning a two week trip travelling to Toyko and then onto Nagoya at some points. 

wondering if anyone has any experience of climbing in Japan at that time of year and could recommend any places to go, Either Trad, Sport or Alpine.

In terms of stuff accessible from Tokyo for day trips, look up maku-iwa and tenno-iwa for sport climbing with the odd trad route, and there's a bouldering spot called mitake as well. All about 2 hrs from Tokyo by train, you should be able to find enough info by googling.
