Just wondered if anyone has ridden up The Stang from the North side (Scargill/Thwaite) and also from the South  (Reeth).

 How do the two compare?

  Thanks

Only ridden it a few times and my memory is known to be faulty, but I remember it being pretty similar from both sides. In fact the last time I did it fron the North I remember coming back over Feldom Ranges being harder work, although that might be because it was at the end of a long (for me) ride

Thanks for reply.

Just read that the 2013 National Hill Climb Championship tackled it from the South. I got the feeling that both were pretty similar but it's hard to tell when you are going up one and down the other!

In reply to Slackboot:

IIRC they are pretty similar in difficulty - the north may be a touch tougher, although it depends which way the wind is blowing! The south is hard at the start, the north hard at the end. Both great though.

Definitely a great climb from the North and a great descent to Reeth too. It feels slightly easier than Carlton Bank.
