Just watched this russian doll of an alien film. Highly recommended for horror sci-fi fans (beware, the wikipedia link contains spoilers.... it's best to watch first).

I watched the Aeronauts at the weekend and would definitely recommend.

Just rewatched The Conversation (a few decades after the last time). Still highly impressive and resonant with the paranoia of the times in which it was made. Highly recommended.

Thanks, that's been on my "watch if I can find it for free" list for quite a while.

Now this one is sure to be marmite but I enjoy Wes Anderson films. I somehow missed this one until now and although not his best I knew I would like it (and it was better than I expected): stuff the dismissive critics. The loving tributes to Cousteau and Bowie are just a bonus.

Russian Doll movie, I see what you did there. Yes, worth a watch. I've recorded The Conversation for another watch after maybe 20 years. Rewatched The Machinist last night, remarkable not least because Christian Bale is about twice the size 6 months later for Batman Begins. We probably shouldn't encourage that sort of thing for our entertainment. https://www.ladbible.com/now/film-and-tv-this-is-how-christian-bale-got-rip...

I'm having  a good run on my recordings as well. My latest was a dramatised historic racing treat, also with an impressive performance from a 'brummie' Bale.

Anyone else seen Nope yet?  It's had mixed reviews but I really enjoyed the mash up of western, horror and sci-fi.

No but, as a sci fi and horror fan, the trailer turned me off.

Two netflix recommendations, Day Shift for silly action / vampire movie

Or for something a bit more worthy and thought provoking, certainly if you've ever visited the Balkans, Quo Vadis, Aida. Nicely shot too.

Just rewatched the black comedy Foxtrot. It's just as good the second time.....a really astonishing story of war and grief with some superb cinematography.
