Spent a half day there and what a cracking reserve! Bit dried up in parts (problems with pumping water around parts of the site) but saw green and greater spotted woodpeckers, 5 green and 1 common sandpiper, redshank, 3 yellow wagtails, loads dragonflies. Loads of whistling gadwall coming out of eclipse plumage. Herons a plenty. Missed a hobby earlier on. Swift swallow house Martin. Loads of stuff for kids to do, excellent amenities. Probably pricey if your are not a member.
BTW, many of these reserves are great for a day out - Martin mere in Lancashire has an excellent play area with mini ropes course.
