A sumptuously filmed tale of imagination and ingenuity in rural India as a young boy falls in love with cinema. Highly recommended and viewable on All 4.

I shall be breaking out the Jean-Luc Godard DVDs over the next few nights, now that the great man has chosen to exit:

There aren't many film-makers who could match Godard's incredibly intense run of masterpiece after masterpiece through the 1960s: Breathless, Contempt, Alphaville, Pierrot le Fou and Weekend are among the best movies ever made, for me .

Yes definitely going for a film night when the nights draw in and raise a glass of vin rouge

I struggled with the lengthy forcefulness of making his points in Weekend at times (especially the  traffic jam section), although I admired the intent...Stewart Lee gets me in the same way at times in some of his stand-up. The very short plot summary in the Wikipedia link says it all.

If you spot any tribute showings of his best films give us a heads up.

I just watched Promising Young Woman, a film I'd never heard of, algorithmic recommendation.

Completely blew my mind. It's astonishing! Now one of my favourite films of all time.

I hope there’ll be some on C4 / BBC, although I thought there might’ve been screenings last year, after Jean-Paul Belmondo (the lead in several) died ...

It looks as though quite a few can be rented cheaply from the BFI*, who recommend Breathless as a good starting point for the earlier ones:
