There has been a big rock fall at East Raven, Langdale. The exact location is not known yet. There is still a lot of unstable material so it is probably best to avoid the area.

In reply to Offwidth: there is always a lot unstable material at the ODG, most of it fell off years ago

In reply to Andy Hyslop - UKC: The rock fall came from the roof right of Babylon (far east). Material was still coming off it yesterday PM - the path under the crag (as far as the wall) is covered in debris and given the state of the remaining roof is probably worth avoiding.

Blimy, I did Babylon about this time last year. The old team in the hut were perplexed when I described crapping myself on it, because they remembered a solid if exciting route back in the 70's. To me it felt seriously unstable and it seems I was right!

If anyone happens to be driving up Langdale with a digital camera, any chance of getting a photo of the rockfall and posting it on the site, please?
