The date format in "My Forums" has changed and isn't as useful as the time and weekday shown on the specific forum pages.

I should probably be posting this in the 'leave feedback' section on the new site right...?

In reply to MeMeMe:

Yes please. Makes it a lot easier to track.

Looking at mainly the forums on an iPad using Safari, everything looked cleaner and resized better, however "like" "dislike" and more importantly the button that takes you back to "My Forums" were just blank boxes, OK if you are familiar with the UKC forum layout, but probably not so good as a new user.

In reply to Paul Phillips - UKC and UKH:

(On my MacBook Pro) some of the ads on the right column have jumped over the left, obliterating most of his main column (broken 'Float:Right'??)

In reply to Gordon Stainforth:

Me too - when I have the web browser full screen.  When I narrow the window it stops.

Chrome on a Windows 10 PC.

In reply to Paul Phillips - UKC and UKH:

Don't seem to be able to scroll within the post entry box. Guess how I discovered that...

In reply to Gordon Stainforth:

Is it the same on www2 for you?

In reply to Paul Phillips - UKC and UKH:

No. I hadn't realized that I wasn't on your new design website. So I've no idea what I was looking at: it looked just the same as this www2 one.

In reply to Gordon Stainforth:

Can you try visiting this page https://www.ukclimbing.com/clear_cache.php. If that doesn't fix it can you send me a screenshot please? paul at ukclimbing.com

In reply to Paul Phillips - UKC and UKH:

That seems to have done the trick. But how odd that the cache should affect the page layout. .... The worrds had scarecly been written when it happened again. Will send screens hot. Can't see what I'm typing now. So apologies if there are typos.

What Browser/Device?

In reply to Paul Phillips - UKC and UKH:

Again, I'm doing this blind because reply box is half-obliterated. Here is a screenshot: http://www.gordonstainforthbelper.co.uk/images/Screenshot%202019-02-05%2023...

In reply to Gordon Stainforth:

Looks like it's the sticky sidebar. I've disabled it on www until I can figure out what's happening.

In reply to Paul Phillips - UKC and UKH:

It's working OK again now.

In reply to Paul Phillips - UKC and UKH:

On an iPad (10.3.3) using Safari I no longer see the icons for the different forums just a blank line, can guess the position and still brings up the forum. Also no icon for read/new post to the left of the topic name.

In reply to mjc1010:

I take it you can't upgrade to iOS 12? I'll add a work around to use the old icons tomorrow.

In reply to Paul Phillips - UKC and UKH:

No unfortunately not. However, having posted the above the read/ unread post icons have reappeared, some of the time, but the menu ones are still missing.

In reply to mjc1010:

The forum icons are an SVG sprite (which looks a lot better on modern browsers) and different from the rest of the icons which is an icon font (https://fontawesome.com/icons).

In reply to Paul Phillips - UKC and UKH:

Chrome/Android 6.0/MotoE2

In reply to Paul Phillips - UKC and UKH:

Have you changed the actual forum format now? (I haven't looked at the beta). It's gone from neat to an overlarge overspaced mess! Desktop Mac. Don't know how to post a screenshot.

In reply to Paul Phillips - UKC and UKH:

I think the ‘in reply to’ button is broken.

In reply to digby:

Are you sure you're on 100% zoom? The forums has hardly been touched. Ctrl/Cmd + Zero key will reset it.

In reply to Tom Ripley Mountain Guide:

Thanks, I'm sure that was working yesterday before I pushed the changes... Typical!

First thing I thought of! It looks the same zoomed out as well. Previously all the text fitted on a single line, font was smaller and there was less padding above and below the text.

In reply to Paul Phillips - UKC and UKH:

Ah wait - somehow 'large font size in forums' was checked in the prefs.

Still doesn't look right though... Is the column narrower? There isn't quite enough width to not truncate some eg 'posted by' names. And there is a lot of padding.

The forum icons aren't showing for you either. What Browser/Device are you using.

Mac desktop. The icons are only not showing in my older Safari -
Console:
[Error] SyntaxError: Unexpected token ')'
    (anonymous function) (forums:658)

> Selected Element
< <img src="/img/forums/fsprites6.svg#Layer_16" class="ficon"> = $1

They are showing in Firefox and Chrome. No errors.

In reply to Paul Phillips - UKC and UKH:

Overall it looks really nice, and you don't seem to have sacrificed function for form in any noticeable way.

I particularly like night mode, and will keep it on all the time as it's much easier on the eyes. One think I noticed is that the horizontal dividing lines between posts are a bit obtrusive in night mode: could they be made slightly darker? Also, the colour used to indicate text quoted from another post* is rather too dark to be legible in my opinion. (I know, no pleasing some people...)

But again, nice work!

* Edit: and also used for headings on the right-hand-side of the user profile page.

Can you try going to https://www.ukclimbing.com/clear_cache.php and see if that fixes the SVG forum icons please? There was a ) in the SVG file but it was in a comment so shouldn't have interfered with the rendering but there's no telling on how old Safari will deal with it.

In reply to Andy Johnson:

Thanks, still a few tweaks to do for night mode. I'll hopefully have that looking better by the end of the week and baked into the main stylesheet.

In reply to scon:

Thanks, fixed that link. You'll need to hard refresh (Ctrl+F5 on PC) to see the change on https://www.ukclimbing.com/news/press/2018/10/glenmore_lodge_early_bird_dis...

This is the correct link https://www.glenmorelodge.org.uk/?utm_campaign=ukclimbing&utm_medium=ge...

 Simon Caldwell 06 Feb 2019
In reply to Paul Phillips - UKC and UKH:

Don't know if it's intentional, but following a non-UKC hyperlink from a forum post no longer opens the link in a new tab, it replaces the current one instead.

Also, just noticed when writing this, the font when writing a reply is different from the rest (might be Arial of some sort I think)

In reply to Simon Caldwell:

That bug's just been fixed and the news post updated.

I'll have a look at the font in the reply window, looks the same here tho.

We are closing this thread.

Can people give feedback on the new thread here - https://www.ukclimbing.com/forums/ukc/ukc_and_ukh_web_site_and_logo_changes...
