[Park Front - Font 9A - The First Ascent, 4 kb]A project, now named Park Front, was climbed on Sunday the 29th of March by Rad Butts. Rad has tentatively offered a grade of Font 9A/V17, making this a contender for the hardest problem in the world.

"This is the culmination of several years of hard training by Rad and it's great to see this once unknown climber getting the recognition he deserves."

The story about the unwitnessed FA is most topical though........

I think most people who've looked at it thought it just too futuristic.

In reply to UKC News: Congrats Rad. Fine effort. However Font9a/V17 is still very much within the British Trad 7a range.
Ackbar 02 Apr 2009
I wonder if Rad is a better all-rounder than Macleod? I bet Rad could climb Echo wall without even having to spend the night sleeping on it before hand.

I can't really speak for Rad but I think he's not so hung up on grades.
Hard to see, though, how V17 could be English tech 7a when V14 is surely top end tech 7b. I'm only the writer, so it's not really for me to have the debate. Thanks for pointing it out if you think it's controversial, however.

Sorry I didn't clock this reaction earlier, and thanks for reading the story.

Of course, I wrote the piece as a pure work of the imagination, but I'm interested that you say that unwitnessed FAs are a topical issue. Do you just mean at the top levels or recreationally?

Rad - you are a free style leaper with real style.

I run a Jumping and Leaping seminar in Devon every May. It's about releasing the inner forces from your core so as to transfer power through emotional and psychic barriers that affect us in our lives.

I'd like to invite you as one of our guest tutors?

No fee - but we will provide all equipment including step ladders, hayricks and hoops.

Rad, I'm sure, would be happy to oblige. I'll be uploading more pics of him in various leaping moments later on, btw. I'll pass on your flattering comments and I'm sure he'll be delighted.
