In this month's Crag Notes Nick Bullock has adapted a piece he first wrote upon his return from Canada in 2015, which - unbeknown to him at the time - chimes with the mood of lockdown life in 2021.

Enjoyed that. Strangely, made me miss Snowdonia at Christmas. I remember slobbering up Lliwedd on such days and steaming in the fairy lights and cafes of Betws and Beddgelert afterwards.

Aye, I also can recall the winter of 2010, both in Wales and Scotland. Just awesome conditions and some lovely settled spells of weather. A rare winter.

Thinking about the amount of rain we've been having, I'm surprised there hasn't been yet another landslip on to the A5 in Nant Ffrancon.

Yes! Beautiful! You see, Mr Bullock, Orpheus ( a poet ! ) played a lyre. I now have an image of you ascending some mythical peak with a galvanised five-bar-gate strapped to your back ...

... and you & that gate leading the wind astray!
