We recently stumbled across some interactive 3D models of the world's 14 highest peaks - the 'eight-thousanders' - created by French web designer Martin Laxenaire. The models include topos of ascent routes, historical information and anecdotes. We got in touch with Martin to find out more about the project.
I didn't look at al the models but those I did had only one or two routes shown, so Everest has only the two 'voie normale' (via the south & north cols), missing routes such as the West Ridge, SW face, routes on the Kangshung face etc & it would have been interesting to see how these related to each other. Likewise there's only one route shown on Annapurna although there are several just on the south face.
