Good effort.

I think I'm right in saying that the first bit of gear is a shop fitting from Outside that one of the Cosseys created/modified/acquired when he/they did it.

In reply to Jack Geldard - Editor - UKC: Blimey good effort, presume this is the first female ascent? seems to be plenty going on grit wise at present. Good effort

In reply to Jack Geldard - Editor - UKC: Nice work. Is it a hand placed door handle?

In reply to Jack Geldard - Editor - UKC:

Katy, honestly, he said "make sure you handle the early section then nail the traverse". There's no need to take things so literally...

Good stuff!! Well done!

Do you think anyone is ever going to on-sight this? No sure about you but my standard rack doesn't have any nails or door handles on it

In reply to Jack Geldard - Editor - UKC: Well done to Katy.

What's the story behind this original hardware use? The handle looks resined in on the photo...?

Very peculiar.

Anyways, she sure did well that lass. Couldn't even top rope such thin and tenuous looking 6c moves... let alone tried to lead them with a handle and a nail to keep me in.

In reply to Jack Geldard - Editor - UKC:

Bizarre protection, what's the whitish stuff keeping the handle and the nail in? Presumably it comes off and doesn't harm the rock? Presumably pre-placed as well?

Finger tape wrapped around the pro to help it fit in the break better???

Watched the ascent from the valley boulders, even from a couple of hundred yards away it looked impressive (and Katy made it look easy!). Good effort
In reply to Jack Geldard - Editor - UKC: Well done. Looks a cracking route.

I had a brilliant view of this, from below Roof Route. You'd never have guessed that the protection was so esoteric from her cool-headed lead. Inspirational!

Better get on it quick. Looks like those bloody Ravens are back in The Peak.

being a dawes route, wouldnt be surprised if the door handle was in-situ.

In reply to adamki: Does this 'open the door' to loads more female ascents?

So long as they latch the holds.

In reply to Bulls Crack: a good effort nailing a route like that, looks like she can handle her hard grit and she had obviously sorted the key protection in the route,

Better be off!

In reply to Jack Geldard - Editor - UKC: Great piece of climbing too, the Whittakers are on form.

In reply to paul mitchell: The Braille Trail looks like a really balance route, must be hard not to 'Barn Door'. sorry that one was bad!!
