I remember Airlie Anderson telling me a story about belaying Neil on Indian Face. She had been climbing with him a lot at the time and said that whenever he was about to fall off his pony tail would start shaking. It was a completely reliable indicator of imminent plummeting. She had never seen the pony tail shake without him then falling off.

High up on Indian Face the pony tail started to quiver quite alarmingly...

I always thought it was a great story, but in the pictures here Neil seems to have short hair. Have I remembered the story wrong?
