Tom Randall - Supersonic Montage, 4 kbTom Randall has climbed a new E8 at Blackers Hole in Dorset. He has named the route 'Supernova' and believes the physical difficulty to be around 8a+. The route takes the line of a stunning crack on Pete Oxley's 1993 aid route .

Tom discovered the line by accident whilst he was trying ...

The description of the route ("a crack on the aid route") is a bit odd wording - the crack is the aid pitch - this is the link of the 2 pitches of The Schwarzechild Radius (8a+) described in the current guide isn't it...

Cool to hear that hard routes are being put up/freed in our neck of the woods. Exciting to hear that there might be more to come! Well done Tom.

Have to say that cave looks pretty outrageous from the safety of the wings. Great to see hard stuff being done at Swanage.

The original route was the Schwarzechild radius, which is a physics concept to do with black holes. Tom basically kept the same line, so chose to keep a black hole related name - seems sensible to me. Plus after that beasty roof he probably felt his arms were about to explode something terrible too...

Is this a typo in the guide, on UKC or a an intentional misspelling? I thought it was "Schwarzschild"
