Server Downtime - 04/01/21

Hi everyone,

We had some server downtime this morning due to a fault on a Network Switch at our hosting company. It didn't affect that many of their customers but unfortunately we were one of them.

The affected hardware has been replaced and shouldn't be a problem in the future.

Apologies for the inconvenience.

Their customers on high availability setups were up and running quicker than us. It's the first time we've had fault like this affect services and it wasn't for very long.

A multi-server setup would add a significant cost and complexity to our stack. We'll probably end up on something like that in a few years though.

Is a cloud server an option?

I was just thinking that "Server Downtime" was a good name for a route and was going to congratulate you on the FA.
