Last Friday 20th July Dave Birkett sent his latest project at Cam Crag, Wast Water, weighing in at E9 6c, as reported this morning at UKClimbing.com. We can believe the grade as Dave has an extensive track record and knows what he is talking about.

As promised here is the VIDEO.

Watch it at http://www.ukclimbing.com/news/

What's with this "sent" rubbish? Surely he climbed it?

Anyway, I'll watch the video after my tea.

In reply to Bob:

Phew!

Al Phizacklea and myself went up to Cam Crag years ago and looked at this line, with definite emphasis on "looked". Everything just sloped the wrong way and the whole thing looked way out of our league, really hard climbing and serious with it.

Good effort from Dave.

In reply to Bob:

Good send eh Bob...as in send/post the envelope to its destination or in this case pushing the envelope.

In reply to Mick Ryan - UKClimbing.com:

Looked like climbing to me Mick, not a send in sight. Good scree run as well.

surely the term "sent" is an evolution of the word "ascent" ?

Eh up Dave

I think it is derived from to send an envelope or a package in the post, to have done with it, to have despatched it. Not sure in what context though....originally.

In reply to Mick Ryan - UKClimbing.com:

Like every other word in modern climbing slang it was probably first invented and used by the late Jack Mileski
